Retire in a College Town – Colorado Springs, Colorado

This post is another in a series of video walking tours of cities on Kiplinger’s Best Cities list.   I am using some of these videos to examine places to retire, and particularly those cities that are also college towns.  Colorado Springs is home to one of our more unique colleges, the United States Air Force Academy.  Thus, any cultural amenities may be somewhat constrained by the mission of the Academy.

I have been to Colorado Springs on one occasion, some 20 years ago.  However, I spent an entire week in that general area at the time.  I remember its natural beauty and cleanliness.  Certainly, a baby boomer with an active outdoor lifestyle would appreciate living in this part of the country.

With a population of over 300,000, Colorado Springs is much larger than most baby boomers who have not been there would think.  I know that I was surprised by its size.

Here is a link to more demographic data on Colorado Springs.

Again, I invite all readers having some knowledge of the Colorado Springs area to share that knowledge in a comment so that we can all benefit from it.
