Boomer and Retirement Weekly Reader – Home Maintenance Edition

We are preparing for company and you know what that means – taking care of a lot of deferred household maintenance items. That’s a good reason to have company. It makes you do things that have been put off for too long.

As usual, I did a lot of reading this week in the baby boomer and retirement worlds. I thought I would share a little of that with readers.

Forbes had an interesting article comparing municipal bonds to Treasuries in today’s market. I think about this issue a lot but munis still worry me.

Green Panda Treehouse wrote one of the better articles I have read about how they operate their finances as a couple. This is often a hot topic of discussion and an issue that probably should evolve over time for a lot of couples.

Bible Money Matters presents a good case for organizing information for others in case of death. Not a pleasant topic but an important one. We have a lock box for a lot of that stuff but I’m not sure anyone else knows where it is.

Scott Burns is ratcheting up the heat on poor performing and costly 401(k) plans. There is more to come in this series and I will be anxious to read all of it.

Also, pay a visit to the Carnival of Personal Finance and Carnival of Pecuniary Delights where my writing appeared.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
