I found a new favorite store this weekend to save money – lots of it. I am probably late to this particular frugal spending strategy compared to many of you but better late than never for me!

I believe I wrote earlier that (a) our extended family (35 family members, 4 generations) is taking a cruise to Alaska in August and (b) my intention is to travel with a single bag – a carry-on sized backpack. Today, I did my first test pack of everything I plan on taking on the cruise. I am pleased with the result and thought I would share it with you.
I am a most fortunate baby boomer because both of my parents are still in my life and relatively healthy. I should be so lucky if and when I reach their age! The struggle to maintain weight affects many of us. This struggle is particularly important to baby boomers who potentially face a mountain of healthcare problems and their associated costs in retirement. The U.S. has the most expensive healthcare system in the world (but sadly not the best care) and the tide has still not turned.
I am a devoted e-book reader, primarily via Kindle edition of books I can download from Amazon or an online library using the Kindle reader app. I look for sales and bargains in reading categories of interest to me. [Read more…]
