Retire in a College Town – Oxford, Mississippi

Oxford, Mississippi has received quite a bit of favorable publicity in recent years as a retirement destination for baby boomers. Mrs. GoTo and I have been there a couple of times and enjoyed it. Oxford is the home of the University of Mississippi. (Our third son is a student at Mississippi State University, the arch-rival of Ole Miss in Starkville.) Read more

If you are like Mr. GoTo and many other baby boomers, you are getting to that place in life where you are thinking about other places where you might live, perhaps after you become an empty-nester. I find it interesting to read the various “best places to retire” lists that are published by magazines such as Money and Kiplinger’s. Sometimes I have some familiarity with a place on the list and I scratch my head as to how it made it on the list. Other times I have no knowledge of the city and am eager to learn more. Read more
Finding Property for a Vacation Home, Second Home, or to Retire

Although we already have a lake house as a second home that we are also likely to use in retirement, I am always looking around at other vacation home property to discuss with Mrs. GoTo and to share with family and friends. If you are like me, it is fun to explore and sometimes fantasize about other places to live, some exotic and some just off-the-chart luxurious. Periodically, I even look at retirement property for sale in other countries but that will have to wait for another post on another day. Read more
